Weekend
Share Care delivers a number of programs on weekends to meet the needs of our families and clients. These programs are aimed at providing carers with an opportunity for a break from the carers’ role and to assist them managing their needs and the needs of their family
Respite Care (children)
- For children with a disability up to 18 years of age with low to high support needs.
- Saturday or Sunday between 9:00 and 3.00pm from Share Care’s:
- Support Centre – Individual (6 - 18 years), Junior Peer Support (6 - 12 years)and Sunday Peer Support (6 - 18 years)
- Oliveri Centre – Senior Peer Support (13 - 18 years)
- Respite House – Young Children (5 - 7 years) every second Saturday during school term
- Bankstown Premises – Individual and Group support (6 - 18 years)
- Individual or group based depending on the need of the individual.
- Include community based activities such as bowling, movies, wildlife parks and swimming.
- Aimed at providing social opportunities to children in small group settings.
Respite (Young adults)
Sunday programs between 9.00am to 3.00pm:
- For Young Adults with low to high support needs;
- For ages up to 25 years.
- Tailored for individual or group needs
- Includes both centre-based and community-based activities such as swimming, visiting parks and exploring attractions inclduing Darling Harbour.
Week Days Programs - Group
Share Care runs a number of programs on week days to support the needs of working families.After School Care
Operates during school terms from 3.00pm to 6.00pm and is available to both primary and secondary school students. Programs are based at the Tarlington Community Hall in Bonnyrigg and Broderick-Gillawarna at Revesby and are primarily aimed at assisting working families maintain employment.Teen Time
Targeted towards working families from the Fairfield Local Government Area whose child is a secondary student. Operates from 3.00pm to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday during school terms. There are also 6 respite packages per day available to eligible Teen Time families during Share Care’s Holiday Program.
Holiday Program
Operates during school holidays and is primarily aimed at working families. The programs are for school children with low to moderate needs with a few respite packages for higher needs children. The program provides children/families with a choice of centre-based activities or outings and are based at either the Support Centre (6 - 12 years) or the Oliveri Centre (13 - 18 years).Individual – Flexible Respite
Share Care offers a number of flexible packages to carers/families that best meets their needs and provides important time out from their caring roleRespite Options
Provides a mixture of individual (1:1) respite programs that can be in-home, centre-based or community-based depending on the needs of the family and/or child/young adult. Operates throughout the year and is aimed at providing the Carer(s) with a break for a few hours per week or overnight.Host Family
Volunteer based program where the child may either stay at the volunteer’s home or the volunteer will stay at the child’s home.Emergency Respite
Share Care has a small amount of funding aimed at providing immediate short term support to families in the case of an unexpected event. This can be Centre-Based, In-Home or at Share Care's Respite House.
Parent Support Group
Share Care provides carers with the opportunity every two months to attend sessions at the Support Centre that includes guest speakers (e.g. Centrelink, South West Community Transport), networking with other families and discussions around the delivery of Share Care Programs. Children are welcome and are cared for by Share Care staff.Father - Child Afternoon
Share Care hosted a Father - Child afternoon at the Respite House in August 2010. Although only a small number of attendees it proved a big hit and Share Care hopes to have similar afternoons or evenings in the future.
